FCT Police intensify on manhole, streetlight thieves

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has launched a major offensive against criminals targeting public infrastructure, with a series of raids across the city yielding significant results.

The operation, which is part of a broader effort to improve public safety, has seen police officers conduct daily raids on known criminal hotspots. These include areas like Apo-Dutse Panteka, the Diplomatic Zone, Kabusa Panteka, and several others.

“Our focus is multi-pronged,” said an FCT Police spokesperson. “We are not only apprehending criminals but also disrupting their activities and recovering stolen assets.”

The raids have yielded impressive results: 348 suspects have been apprehended for various crimes, with 320 already facing prosecution. 26 manhole covers and 20 solar street light poles have been recovered, along with 10 trucks laden with stolen metals. Significant quantities of narcotics, including suspected Indian hemp, have been seized. 11 firearms have been taken off the streets, enhancing public safety.
