The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, said on Monday that the meeting of the Federal Executive Council (FEC), presided over by President Bola Tinubu, deliberated extensively on holistic crime-fighting and anti-corruption policy and approved a prisoner swap policy with Spain.
Fagbemi, while briefing State House correspondents on the memos presented at FEC, said: “As you all know, there are three stages. The first one is the investigation aspect. The second one is the prosecution and sentencing and the third is ensuring that the sentence is served as deterrence.
“These three stages are being addressed. We will do it country by country; but for today, the ones dealt with were the ones concerning the Kingdom of Spain―Nigeria and the Kingdom of Spain. So we have three memos in quick succession, one dealing with the exchange of information, including investigation.”
