FG, AFRIMA mourn ‘Sound Sultan’, condole with family
The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has expressed shock and sadness over the untimely demise of the popular singer, rapper and songwriter, ‘Sound Sultan’ (Olanrewaju Abdul-Ganiu Fasasi).
In a statement yesterday, the minister described ‘Sound Sultan’s death as a great loss not just to the family and the creative industry, but also to Nigeria as a whole.
He condoled with the family, friends and fans of the departed artiste.
“Our prayers and thoughts are with the wife, children and indeed the entire family at this time. May God comfort and strengthen them. May He also grant repose to the soul of the departed,” Mohammed said.
ALSO, the International Executive Committee of the All African Music Awards (AFRIMA) has expressed shock over the loss of the singer who passed on on July 11, 2021.
President and Executive Producer, Mike Dada, who spoke on behalf of AFRIMA, said: “It is said that the circle of life is completed in death, but it says nothing about the grief that comes with the finality of it.”
‘Sound Sultan’ was a pioneer of contemporary African music and we are completely devastated at this loss.”
