FG declares free technical education, N22,500 stipends for students

The Federal Government has announced free education for students in federal and state technical colleges across Nigeria.

This is in addition to N25,000 monthly stipends to each student in the institution.

The move, it added, will alleviate financial burdens on students and families.

It said the initiative aims to promote technical and vocational education, equipping students with hands-on skills and market-driven training, ultimately contributing to national development and poverty reduction.

The Government explained that the package also includes free tuition, accommodation, and feeding to students in the colleges.

Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, announced the development at the launch of Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) in Abuja on Friday.

Alausa said the gesture was designed to attract more young people to TVET, incentivise them so they could use the opportunity to acquire relevant skills that would make them useful to society.
