FG, firm collaborate to boost Nigeria’s livestock sector

The Federal Government has reiterated its commitment towards the development of the country’s livestock sector, in collaboration with Real People Concept – a company renown for livestock technology.
The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Livestock Development, Idris Abiola-Ajimobi, disclosed this while speaking with journalists on the sidelines of the Southwest Cattle, Sheep and Goat Farmers Day Out and Exhibition, with the theme: Sustaining Livestock Resilience in Changing Times: Innovation, Collaboration and Growth For The Ruminant Sector.
The programme, put together by the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Livestock Development in collaboration with Real People Concept, was held at the Federal College of Animal Health and Production Technology (FCAH&PT), Ibadan, Oyo State.
He said: “Real People Concept is working to bring up innovative ideas in the livestock sector, using data-driven system. The company is working towards improving the livestock sector through data collection and technology.
“We are grateful to the firm for their initiative and coming up with this great programme. We look forward to partnering with them in the future on several other engagements. We also call on other Nigerians who have similar companies, we want to engage them, and we want to partner with you.
“Whatever initiative you are working on in the livestock sector, we are appealing to you all to please engage with office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Livestock Development and we look forward to working with you, to build a greater, stronger and more food-secure nation.”
Also speaking, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Real People Concept, Mr Olawole Tunmise Olagbaju, said: “We have been looking forward to a time when ruminant farmers in the Southwest can come together under one roof to discuss way forward.
“We believe that livestock industry in Nigeria, especially ruminant has potential that we have not really maximised and coming together, learning together and networking. When we come together, we will be able to achieve much.
“Coming together gives us strength and help us to have a voice and we are happy and thankful to the SSA to the President on Livestock Development, who graciously supported this event, put his weight behind it and thank God we have overwhelming participation which is a testament to the fact that it is time for ruminant farmers to come together in the Southwest.”
