FG needs to properly audit bailout funds, says Dakum
A professor of Public Health and public affairs commentator, Patrick Dakum has called for proper auditing of all bailout funds to ensure they are properly used for their targeted purpose.
Dakum, who said this in an interview with The Guardian in Abuja, urged the Federal Government to thread with caution in asking states to refund the bailout funds given to them in 2015 so that they do return to insolvency.
He pleaded for time for states to recover, so as not to push them back to recession, as was the case before the intervention.
“The Federal Government should give additional time for states to recover. In the U.S for instance, bailout was given to automobile manufacturers to recover from recession when President Trump took over and they were given a long time to recover and were monitored to pay back at a pace that would not send them back to recession again.”
