The Federal Government has planned to digitise the public sector to transform the economy and improve business processes through the integration of digital technologies.

Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Prof. Isa Pantami, who stated this at the Digitisation Hangout With Digital Transformation Technical Working Groups (DTTWGs) and Technology/Industry Ecosystem Players, yesterday, in Abuja, noted that digital transformation in the public service is a key part of strategy for developing the indigenous digital economy. He added that the measure will fundamentally transform the way the public sector operates, creates value and delivers services to customers.

The minister, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Bitrus Nabasu, said: “Digital transformation is not just a buzz word that technology professionals use. Rather, it is a deliberate effort to improve business processes through the integration of digital technologies and this is gaining wide acceptance around the world.”

Pantami, therefore, urged the participants to work together to initiate ideas for public sector digitisation.

Also speaking, the Director-General National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Malam Kashifu Abdullahi, urged participants to get equipped and go back to transform the economy digitally.”
