FG seeks cooperation as work begins on Apapa/Oworonsoki road
The federal government has called for understanding among critical stakeholders, as construction work commences on the Apapa/Oworonsoki expressway next week.
Federal Controller of Works, Lagos, Adedamola Kuti, made the call yesterday after a stakeholders’ meeting on traffic management/control and security at the Lagos office of the Ministry of Power, Works and Housing.
Addressing the media shortly after the meeting, the engineer noted the importance of the road to the economic life of the nation and stressed the need for patience among road-users, as government finds permanent solution to the Apapa traffic gridlock.
He said reconstruction of the expressway was delayed after it was flagged off by the Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, on December 17, 2018 because of the need to relocate some utilities along the stretch.
The road stretches from Apapa through Mile 2, Oshodi, Gbagada to Oworonshoki.
According to him, with the signing of the Executive Order 7 by President Muhammadu Buhari earlier this year and the completion of the relocation, the reconstruction by AG Dangote has begun under the Tax Credit Scheme.
