THE Federal Housing Authority (FHA) said it has paid the sum of N3billion into the Federation Account between January and June 2026 and has projected that it will make generate additional N3billion at the end of 2026 by leveraging on the N500billion investment into the ‎agency before it was taken off the budgetary allocation platform of the Federal Government .

 

Managing Director of the FHA Honourable Oyetunde Ojo who stated this in Abuja on Wednesday also he inherited the sum of N12billion deficit on assumption of office as owed salary arrears to staff , stressing that the agency applied carefully executed due diligence, hard work and discipline to clear off the deficit, cleared the backlog and restored confidence of workers .

 

The Managing Director made these revelations when he received the award of Excellence from the Anti Corruption Academy of Nigeria (ACAN) for accountability , intentionality for growth and transparency in leadership .

 

The FHA Managing Director also pointed out that he met a scary , decayed and non-functional agency and hard managerial decisions were made including the refusal to procure new vehicles for official use for the Management and board .

 

He further explained that currently the FHA has approximately a N10Trillion assets climbing on the N500billion investments currently under the management and supervision of the agency .

 

Honourable Oyetunde emphasized that the agency has also revived it’s football club that will produce talents that will add value to the agency and Nigeria in general .

 

“Two years ago when I assumed the responsibilities of Managing Director and Chief Executive , I met an agency that was in dire strait , an institution that is heavily endowed with all the resources it takes to be very great but remained underperforming . I met an organization with some of the best brains in the built industry but were heavily ill motivated.

 

“Today’s award confirms that those efforts are bearing fruit. We have seen a measurable reduction in incidents and allegations involving Anti-Corruption agencies and that encouraging trend reflects deliberate policy choices,systemic reforms and a culture change within the authority .”

 

Earlier the Provost of the institution, Professor Sherrif Ghali Ibrahim said the FHA MD displayed executional leadership reformative qualities that prompted the award .

 

According to professor Ghali ,”I would like to congratulate you the managing Director and CEO, Honorable Oyetunde Ojo because of your particular distinguished style of leadership that we are here today.

 

” I know you as a person who is intellectually sound because we have engaged in an intellectual discourse several times with him. I know him as a person of calmness and soberness. I know him as a man of simplicity, and I know him as a great leader and administrator and that is why the changes and the dynamic ambience of what is unfolding in this particular institution today, from jostling to courts, making the environment that was like a market, to emptying this particular environment and sanitizing the environment, also curtailing the levels of litigations.

 

“These are all signs of leadership prowess. That is why I congratulate you for having him as a leader and your MD.

 

“Secondly, we at the ICPC established within the framework of the ICPC Act 2000. The ICPC is mandated to carry out three major functions, and these functions are one to prevent corruption in the country. I am using this particular preventive tool, the ICPC carries out system studies and review in all government ministries, departments, and agencies.

 

“Secondly, the ICPC is also mandated to carry out public education and enlightenment campaigns. Why? Because you don’t punish individuals without showing them the enormity of what they are about to commit and what the law positions itself on this particular mistake, or whatever that is about to be committed, breach of law and the constitution of the federal republic. So the ICPC, through a unit of public education and enlightenment, educates Nigerians and create awareness among Nigerians on the repercussions of breaching the law, as well as impact of corruption on the society as well as the citizenry of this great nation.

 

“Then, ultimately, the ICPC is also mandated to enforce the law on those who breach the constitution, especially within the framework of corrupt practices. By extension, the Anti-Corruption Academy of Nigeria, which is Akan, is the sole training and research arm of the ICPC, which provides training, capacity building, and research works on issues that deal with ethics, integrity, and accountability, and by extension, issues that bother on corruption in this particular great nation. We are here today, ladies and gentlemen, because the managing director has showcased a vibrant knowledge as well as resolve to partner with the ICPC and the Anti-Corruption Academy of Nigeria to mitigate corrupt practices, especially within the Federal Housing Authority, he’s not only uniting Nigerians through housing, but he’s here to unite Nigerians through the anti-corruption drive, and that is why, in the last training conducted, FHA sent a significant number of members of staff in order to be trained, to have more capacity, to have more awareness, in order to strengthen the tools and instruments of executing their duties at FHA, and hilariously, from among these members of staff sent to ACAN, some of these particular participants excel and perform wonderfully during this particular duration. I wouldn’t have showcased that without the support of the MD.

 

We wouldn’t have seen them at the academy without his reason to sending them to the academy to learn about this particular cause. That is why we don’t have a flinch. The Honourable MD will continue to appreciate you and thank you for this wonderful job and leadership and community.”
