Fighter jet causes pandemonium in Gbaramatu
A military fighter jet yesterday scared residents of Gbaramatu Kingdom in Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State, after flying menacingly over the communities several times.
The fighter jet, which was sighted around 5pm, sent panic waves across the riverine communities, who thought the kingdom was being invaded again.
Spokesman of the Gbaramatu traditional council, Chief Godspower Gbenekama, said it was provocative for the military to send fighter jets to threaten the kingdom, thereby sending wrong signal that Gbaramatu was a troublesome kingdom.
He urged the military to fly its planes in Boko Haram infested zones and not intimidate peaceful communities in the Niger Delta
He added that Gbaramatu was not in contention with the military, insisting that the host communities to several oil and gas installations have been law abiding and peaceful.
