Forty-one shops located at Kasuwar Kurmi (Yan’ littafai) Market in Kano State have been razed by fire in the early hours of Monday.

Confirming the incident, Kano State Fire Service stated that the fire began at about 01: 58am and was caused by an electrical spark.

According to a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer, Fire Service, Alhaji Saminu Abdullahi, fire servicemen were deployed to the scene after receiving a distress call to douse the fire.

“Upon receiving the information, we quickly sent a fire vehicle to the scene about 02:07 a.m, to bring the situation under control,’’ the statement said.
