Firm cleans up Tarkwa Bay ahead of Yuletide

For a cleaner and safer environment for Lagos residents, Givanas Industry Nigeria Ltd., organised a sanitation exercise for beaches and its environs ahead of the festivities.

For a cleaner and safer environment for Lagos residents, Givanas Industry Nigeria Ltd., organised a sanitation exercise for beaches and its environs ahead of the festivities.

The company said the exercise was part of its Corporate Social Responsibility. It was facilitated by Givanas Charitable Foundation, Stand Out For Environmental Restoration Initiative and Gidiscrap Initiative.

National Coordinator of Givanas Charitable Foundation, Mrs.Fatima Akinlesi, said: “Tarkwa Bay Beach was chosen because of its many tourist attractions and the need to keep it clean and healthy, especially as the Yuletide begins.”

Akinlesi noted: ” The company would continue to sensitise the residents on environmental safety while installing mechanism to ensure a clean and sustainable environment.”

“We are proud to assist Lagos State in any way we can to provide a clean and sustainable environment. We begin with the Tarkwa Bay because we are aware that during this festive period, many families would like to visit the beach. We want to ensure it is tidy and ready for use. We are also installing mobile plastic drums at strategic locations in the beach where people can dispose their thrash..”

She urged Nigerians to imbibe the culture of disposing our wastes through the appropriate means .

For Environmental Restoration Initiative, Mr . Emmanuel Sofa, said the collaboration was to ensure attitudinal change geared towards ensuring safe and healthy environment for all.

The Founder of Gidiscrap Initiative, Victor Igonoh, urged Nigerians to stop littering the environment because the thrashes could end up in wrong places and come back to affect the environment .
