A firm, Nigerian Breweries Plc., has empowered 472 youths and women through skills acquisition programmes across six locations in Nigeria.

Graduation ceremonies were organised for beneficiaries simultaneously in Lagos, Abuja, Ota (Ogun), Kaduna, Ama (Enugu) and Awo-Omamma in Imo State.

For this year’s edition, beneficiaries were trained in a wide range of skill areas, including fishery, beads making, wig making, cosmetology, hairdressing, solar panel installation, mobile phone repairs, barbing, fashion design, marketing, block molding, among others

The Managing Director, Nigerian Breweries Plc, Hans Essaadi, said the initiative was in furtherance of the company’s commitment to its corporate philosophy of winning with Nigeria, as it seeks to support youths and women on their journey to entrepreneurship, employment generation and financial independence. He urged beneficiaries to maximise what they learnt by making judicious use of them.

According to him, all the beneficiaries would also receive start-up tools as a way of supporting them on their entrepreneurial journey.

Dignitaries at the events included wife of Enugu State Governor, Monica Ugwuanyi; representative of the Ogun State governor’s wife, Mrs. Abimbola Adesanya; representative of the Lagos State Deputy Governor, Mrs. Bolaji Dada, Commissioner for Youth Development, Abia State, Charles Esonu, and traditional rulers.

Since its inception in 2019, 1,365 women and youths from host communities and other locations have benefitted from the empowerment initiative.
