Senator flays alleged attack on party supporters

The candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for 2023 gubernatorial election, Senator Teslim Folarin; candidate for the Ibadan North-East/South-East Federal Constituency, Adedapo Lam-Adesina, among others, yesterday, led APC supporters in a campaign rally in Ibadan, Oyo State capital.

The rally led to serious traffic congestion across the city but was also well coordinated by a team of police, officers of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and other security and traffic management agencies.

Folarin, who led the campaign, also advised Governor Seyi Makinde to consider supporting the Tinubu/Shettima presidential team as against the candidate of his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

He said the best thing that could happen to Nigeria and move it forward is the capacities and capabilities of both Tinubu and Shettima.

Lam-Adesina, on his part, said Tinubu had in various ways demonstrated his capability to redeem Nigeria as done when he was governor of Lagos State.

MEANWHILE, Folarin has decried the attempted attack on party supporters at the campaign rally by members of the Oyo State Park Management System (PMS), headed by Mukaila Lamidi, popularly called Auxiliary.

In a statement after the campaign, Folarin said the attackers were at the height of lawlessness, brigandage and provocation capable of heightening tension in the state.

He said that despite several warnings by members of the APC to ensure Makinde cautions PMS members, they were hell bent on fomenting troubles.

The senator said he was surprised that Auxiliary could attack members from behind when he knew the candidates were in the front.
