Former deputy speaker eulogises Bamanga Tukur at 90

Former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Honourable Babangida Nguroje, has described Alhaji Bamanga Tukur as an elder statesman who dedicated his life to serving humanity and nation-building.

Honourable Nguroje recalled with warm nostalgia the relationship between the former Governor of the old Gongola State and former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and his late father, emphasising that Alhaji Tukur had positively influenced many lives, leaving a lasting legacy over time.

In a statement he personally signed, Honourable Nguroje said that the accomplishments of Alhaji Bamanga Tukur in politics, business, administration, and traditional norms and values are worthy of emulation.

He said, “I want to thank God Almighty for the life of this great son of Nigeria and an international figure of repute.

“Attaining the age of 90 is something that must be reflected upon, and I personally congratulate him. He is a father figure to me, and I can recall vividly that his relationship with my late father was cordial. He sees me as his son and offers me the kind of advise that a father gives his children.

“His contributions to nation building cannot be overemphasised, his record of excellence and discipline are some of the attributes that make him a complete leader in every ramification.

“He is among those who fought for democracy, worked for the independence of Nigeria.

“I congratulate him for attaining this age and still contributing to the growth of Nigeria behind the scenes.”
