Former Enugu State governor Senator Chimaroke Nnamani has dumped the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Nnamani, a Senator representing Enugu East, dumped PDP on Monday following his election loss to a Labour Party candidate Kevin Chukwu.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced that Chukwu polled 69,136 votes to defeat Nnamani who scored 48,701 votes.

Nnamani in a statement said after consultations with his associates and constituents he had decided to quit the PDP on account of irreconcilable differences with the national leadership of the party.

The former governor said he has moved on and hopes that his contributions to the development of his constituency will be the building blocks on which his successors can build.

He also reaffirmed his support for President-Elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and promised to continue to partner with him.

Nnamani urged Nigerians, especially the Ebeano political family to remain steadfast in the years ahead.

He wished the LP candidate Chukwu a successful tenure in the Senate, and he also told his supporters to remain calm and accept the outcome of the election in good faith.
