The Hope Afresh Foundation (HAF), founded by the wife of Taraba State Governor Darius Ishaku, Ana, has established a rehabilitation centre in Jalingo, the state capital, to address the health challenges of persons suffering from adverse effects of hard drugs and other prohibited substances.

The centre, according to Mrs. Ishaku, would go a long way to minimise the ills caused by the consumption of illicit drugs among the teaming youth.

The First Lady, who noted that her priority is to ensure a drug-free society in the state, said she was saddened by the high rate of drug abuse in the state, adding: “In the course of our campaign against drugs abuse across the state, we discovered that there were victims that needed to be rehabilitated.”

Citing this as the major reason for the establishment of the centre, she noted that the Foundation had concluded plans to partner with the state government and foreign donors for sustainability.
