Foundation raises awareness on breast cancer
To enhance knowledge on breast cancer amongst Imo indigenes, the Ike Odoeme Foundation (TIOF) has launched an initiative to scale up awareness in Imo State.
The Founder Ike Odoeme during the flag off of the campaign in Owerri, Imo state said the launch of the campaign across the state is in line with Breast Cancer Awareness Month as they are engaging with local health authorities to educate students and community members.
According to him, the aim is to empower individuals and communities with knowledge about breast cancer while fostering a supportive environment for those affected, saying they believe that by working together,
no one should face breast cancer alone
He said the foundation “is dedicated to raising awareness and providing essential support for those affected by breast cancer.”
During a visit to the Commissioner for Health, Imo State, Odoeme emphasized the need to scale-up awareness of preventive measures against breast cancer.
The Commissioner Dr Damaris Osunkwo in her remarks expressed support for the foundation’s initiatives highlighting the importance of collaboration in promoting health education and early detection.

The foundation during an Outreach at the Girls Secondary School Ikenegbu engaged students in informative discussions about breast cancer, emphasising the importance of awareness, prevention, and early detection. Additionally, the foundation donated school supplies
to students, reinforcing their commitment to education and community support.
The Ike Odoeme Foundation also visited
breast cancer patients at local healthcare facilities to comfort and support those undergoing treatment to let them know they are not alone in the fight against cancer.
The foundation hosted a significant cancer awareness talk at Corpus Christi Parish in Ihitte-Uboma during a Sunday Service where all the officials shared critical information about breast cancer, the risk factors, and the importance of regular screenings.
They urged the attendees to spread awareness within their communities, highlighting the collective responsibility to combat this disease.
To conclude the awareness campaign, The Ike Odoeme Foundation conducted a breast cancer awareness session at the Imo State Police Command, educating female officers and staff about breast cancer prevention and early detection methods.
