Residents of Saki East in Oyo State have raised fresh concerns over worsening rural insecurity following another reported attack at Binazeez Binusaman Farm Limited, a once-thriving agricultural venture located along the Orogun–Idi Ero–Ogbooro Road.
The farm, founded by Mr. Azeez Musa Adebayo and Mrs. Medinat Adebayo, had earned a reputation for its use of modern farming equipment and extensive cultivated land. However, operations have reportedly declined following a series of violent incidents that have left the facility largely inactive.
The latest attack occurred on August 4, 2025, according to residents, who said the assailants arrived at the farm and allegedly mistook a local farmer for Mr. Adebayo. The individual managed to escape unhurt.
“It was a close call. We are just thankful he survived,” said a local youth leader, who spoke on condition of anonymity.
The first reported incident took place on March 12, 2021, when armed individuals stormed the farm after an alleged cattle-related dispute. That attack reportedly led to the loss of livestock and cash, and the death of the farm’s manager, identified as Mr. Kola.
Since then, locals say the situation has deteriorated, with farmers increasingly abandoning their fields and living in fear of renewed violence.
“Farming now feels like walking through a war zone,” said a resident.
Community members estimate losses in millions of naira from livestock theft, vandalised infrastructure, and deserted farmland. Some residents fear that the attacks may be linked to unresolved disputes involving the farm’s management, though no official statement has confirmed this theory.
Despite repeated appeals for intervention, residents say the government’s response has been inadequate.
“If this continues, Saki East’s farming economy may collapse entirely,” warned a community elder. “Many are already considering abandoning their land just to stay alive.”
The State Police Command has yet to issue a formal statement on the latest incident.
As calls for a stronger security presence grow louder, the Binazeez Binusaman Farm has become a stark reminder of the broader insecurity threatening agriculture and rural livelihoods in parts of Oyo State.
