Friends of the Speaker, House of Representatives, Hon. Yakubu Dogara, have asked him to remain dedicated in his service to the nation.
They made the charge at the weekend, during his 50th birthday reception at GSS Gwaranda in Bogoro, Bauchi State.
A book was launched in his honour on December 26, 2017 in Abuja, where over N300 million was realised from donations.
The Governor of Plateau State, Simon Lalong, represented by his deputy, Prof. Sunny Tyoden, lauded his achievements at 50.
Lalong, who was the chairman of the event, urged the speaker to remain committed to his duties at the national assembly.
The Chairman of the House Committee on Interior, Hon. Jagaba Adams Jagaba, described the speaker as a trailblazer who leads by example, and sets records that would be difficult to break.
Jagaba said Dogara had brought tremendous development to the assembly through his exemplary leadership.
According to him, he had also helped in bringing quality legislations that led to the creation of the North East Development Commission, to rebuild the sub-region and rehabilitate the people.
Also, the Bauchi State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Uba Ahmed Nana, represented by a party chieftain, Lawan Mohammed, commended Dogara’s revolutionary struggle to save the country.
For Governor Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar, represented by his deputy, Nuhu Gidado, Dogara is the only individual in the state, who had excelled to the level of his forefathers.
In his response, the speaker commended the people for organising the reception in his honour and thanked God for his mercies as he attained the age.
Dogara, who noted that his election to the House of Representatives signified the unity and hope of his people, assured Nigerians of his commitment to policies that would ensure better lives for the people.
