Fubara, The Guardian’s investigative journalist, Godwin, others for NUJ Award

The Rivers State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) will on Sunday, August 18, 2024, bestow on the Rivers State Governor, Siminialayi Fubara, the Champion of Peace Award as part of activities marking the 2024 Press Week of the Union.

Also, The Guardian’s award-winning investigative journalist, Ann Godwin, was also selected for a ‘Special Recognition Award’ for doing ‘works that bring pride and honor to NUJ, in addition to contributing to the greater good of society.’

The award, according to the Chairman of the NUJ Press Week Committee, Olalekan Ige, will be presented by the President of the NUJ, Ikechukwu Isiguzo.

According to the statement, the award seeks to honor the governor for his exemplary leadership and peaceful disposition and also honor distinguished journalists whose works have contributed to the greater good of society.

The event is billed to hold at the LaSien Event Centre on Sunday.

Ige enjoined journalists to attend the programme.
