FUOYE confers honorary degrees on Agabi, Ojo, others

…Promotes 20 academic staff to professors
The Vice Chancellor of the Federal University Oye Ekiti (FUOYE), Prof. Abayomi Fasina, has said that four notable Nigerians, including two former Attorneys General and Ministers of Justice of the Federation, Kanu Godwin Agabi, and Bayo Ojo, will be conferred with honorary degree awards.
Others are the Managing Director of First Bank of Nigeria, Mr. Segun Alebiosu, as well as Dr. Allen Onyema, Chairman of Air Peace Airline. The Vice-Chancellor stated this at a pre-convocation press briefing held at the university campus to herald the 9th convocation ceremony of the institution.
This is as 177 students bagged First Class honours out of 8,444 students graduating at the convocation.
Fasina lauded the Federal Government for providing succour for 3281 vulnerable students of the institution through Nigeria Education Loan Funds (NELFUND).
According to him, N305.757 million has been disbursed by NELFUND to beneficiaries in FUOYE, saying that many students who were unable to pay their school fees have been relieved of the burden. Fasina also said that no fewer than 20 academic staff members have been promoted to the rank of Professor in the last three months.
while six others would be promoted in the next week. He said: “The promotion of over 1,900 academic and non-academic staff underscores our commitment to the professional development and career advancement of our faculty.”
