FUPRE vows to tackle Nigeria’s energy crisis

The Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun (FUPRE), Delta State, has unveiled a special energy programme to identify peculiar problems in Nigeria’s energy and power sector, as well as to develop solutions to solve the problems, thereby contributing to the country’s energy development.

Unveiling the initiative, the Vice Chancellor of FUPRE, Prof. Akpofure Rim-Rukeh, said that the special school, known as FUPRE Energy Business School, was created in collaboration with three other partners, Petronet Africa, Entek Integrated Resources Ltd and Cyphercrescent Limited.

According to him, the energy school would offer structured programmes that would enable management leaders to acquire in-depth knowledge and managerial experience to solve various problems in the energy sector.

Professor Emeritus, Wumi Iledana of Petronet Africa, who spoke on behalf of the partners, said that they signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with FUPRE to offer two programmes in Petroleum and Energy Studies for doctorate programme and a professional master’s programme with 10 modules, seven compulsory and three specialisations.

He said: “The purpose is to develop professionals with competent skill sets to manage the oil and gas resources, energy resources, the power industry and effective equitable ethical manners.”
