The former governor, who has been re-elected for a fourth term, is the current chairman of the committee on works.
Gaya explained that it was not too much if the North West produces the deputy senate president “ the zone gave the highest vote to President Muhammadu Buhari during the 2019 general elections.”
Advancing reasons why the zone should produce the deputy senate president, Gaya said there were strong indications that the APC leadership was considering zoning the speakership of the House of Representatives to the South West, deputy speaker to North Central and the senate presidency to the North East.
He said: “If the six zones are accommodated in the sharing formula for the National Assembly leadership positions, four of them contributed tremendously to the election of Mr. President.”
