Gbajabiamila pledges 9th assembly will open up legislative space to youths

The speaker, House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, yesterday, assured Nigerian youths that the ninth National Assembly would afford them the opportunity through legislative means to succeed the present lawmakers.

The speaker, House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, yesterday, assured Nigerian youths that the ninth National Assembly would afford them the opportunity through legislative means to succeed the present lawmakers.
 
Speaking during a constituency outreach programme on poverty alleviation and empowerment in Surulere Federal Constituency, where Gbajabiamila presented 15 busses, five security patrol vehicles, four brand new ambulances, 145 automobiles, laptops and other valuables, the speaker appreciated the people for voting him five times into the House of Representatives.

Two Lagos journalists were empowered with car gifts as a mark of appreciation and support. He said roads and schools construction and rehabilitation, streets lights erected among others were part of the dividends of democracy and their loyalty and confidence in his representation.
   
According to him: “Our responsibility as legislators is to feel the pulse of the constituents and look for ways to address their needs. I have always had a passion for education and tried to focus on touching the lives of students and teachers in our constituency.”
 
He also disclosed why he placed priority in lightning up Surulere environment to minimise crime along with donation of security patrol vans. He promised to do more, attract more projects to the area before the end of his tenure.
 
According to him:  “It is my belief that by the time we are done with our tenure, Surulere, Lagos and Nigeria would have improved.
 
“Nigeria is blessed with a lot of young potentials, young men and women, who have the capacity, knowledge, know-how, drive, sincerity of purpose, but unfortunately it is yet to have the endowment to thrive. I promise you today and I give you my solemn word that those of us in the Ninth assembly will continue to do what we can, whenever,  wherever, however we can to make sure that these young boys and girls, who we call the greater tomorrow, are indeed given a seat at the table and perhaps someday, sit at the head of the table.”
  
A former lawmaker that represented Lagos Central, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, former Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Femi Pedro and other All Progressives Congress (APC) members present at the event, expressed gratitude to the speaker for lifting the spirits of the people through the various gifts item.
