Telecommunications giant, Globacom, has given girl child empowerment boost as it joined other well-meaning organisations to celebrate the International Day of the Girl Child themed With Her: A Skilled Girl Force.

The International Day of the girl child is a global campaign to spread awareness about issues faced by girls, especially in the developing nations of the world and it is commemorated on October 11 every year.

Speaking on this year’s celebration sponsored by Globacom, Manager, Public Sector, Mrs. Justina Abdulateef, said the company collaborated with the organisers to assist in the realization of the objectives of the Girl Child Day, as well as encourage young girls to aspire to great heights in life.

Abdulateef charged young girls across the country to shun the limitations of stereotypes and discriminations that often deter their gender from pursuing their dreams.

Convener of the forum and Publisher of e-Business Life magazine, Mrs. Ufuoma Emuophedaro, revealed that the objectives of the International Girl Child Day were to spread awareness about issues faced by girls and to promote girls’ empowerment and fulfillment of their human rights, while also highlighting the challenges that girls all over the world face.
