The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 1 Division of the Nigerian Army, Maj.-Gen. Farouq Yahaya, has implored experienced soldiers to bequeath their shooting skills to subordinates before retirement.

He made the call in Kaduna yesterday while receiving the eight trophies won by the division leading to its emergence as the overall winner of the 2019 Nigerian Army Small Arms Competition held last week in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Meanwhile, the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, yesterday said the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) would take delivery of 18 new aircraft to support the ongoing military and counter-terrorism operations across the federation.

He spoke while opening the force’s two-day capacity training on strategic communication with the theme: “Exploring New Techniques in Participatory and Collaborative Strategic Information” in Abuja.

Represented by the Chief of Administration, Air Vice Marshal, Kingsley Lar, the CAS said the expected planes include 12 Super Tucano attack aircraft; three JF-17 Thunder Multi-role fighter aircraft; two Agusta 109 Power Attack helicopters and one Agusta 139W utility helicopter.
