The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano has kicked start mobilization to maximize votes ahead of next year’s general election.
Unveiling the APC Polling Unit Agents at the government house, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf challenged the agents to prepare to galvanize votes for the party across the 44 local government and 484 political wards in the state.
Gov. Yusuf reminded the party agents popularly known as ’Yan Akwati, the critical responsibility of protecting APC votes during the election and strengthen part structure at the grassroots level.
While assuring government continued support, Governor Yusuf asserted that the party agents must ensure the re-election of President Tinubu, and all APC candidates in Kano to sustain the ongoing economic reforms and development initiatives across the country.
Describing the polling unit structure as the foundation of the APC’s electoral strength, Governor said the government is rewarding the 1,540 agents with a plot of land each and a cash grant of N100 million for their efforts during 2023 election.
He posited that empowering the grassroots supporters would enhance the party’s mobilisation efforts and guarantee victory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second-term bid, as well as other APC candidates in future elections.
Earlier, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Matters, Mustapha Hamza Buhari Bakwana, described the intervention as the first phase of a broader strategy to consolidate APC’s grassroots support ahead of the 2027 elections.
He expressed confidence that the ’Yan Akwati network possesses the capacity to mobilise over one million votes for President Tinubu in Kano State.
