Government to locally clothe soldiers, other security agents
The Federal Government is to commence local production of uniforms for the military and paramilitary personnel.
The Minister of Defence, Bashir Magashi, dropped the hint yesterday during the signing of a pact between the Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON) and Sur Corporateware of Turkey for the establishment of the clothing factory in Kaduna.
He explained that the move would equally create direct and indirect jobs for the nation’s teeming youths as well as save foreign exchange.
According to the minister, “the deal will also increase the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP), and consequently, improve its export earnings.”
