Governor Lawal honours promoted NSCDC officers from Zamfara

Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has hosted ten newly decorated officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) who hail from the state, describing them as a source of pride to the people of Zamfara.
The officers, led by the NSCDC Commander of Zone 2, Assistant Commandant General (ACG) Haruna Bala Zurmi, paid a courtesy visit to the Governor at the Government House in Gusau.

In a statement issued by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sulaiman Bala Idris, it was revealed that three of the officers were promoted to the rank of Assistant Commandant General (ACG), while the remaining seven attained the rank of Commandant of the Corps (CC). Their elevation, the statement noted, reflected great credit on Zamfara State.
Addressing the officers, Governor Lawal urged them to continue making the state proud through their service to the nation.

“We are all concerned about Zamfara because we don’t have another place we call home. When you retire from service, you will return here; therefore, our collective duty is to make Zamfara great,” the Governor said.
He praised the goodwill and cooperation extended to his administration by the NSCDC, particularly highlighting the support in addressing insecurity challenges in the state.

“The Commandant is a very good friend of Zamfara State. I want to take this opportunity to thank him for the immense assistance he has rendered to us in our fight against insecurity,” he added.

Governor Lawal expressed keen interest in organising a dinner to honour the officers for their achievements, stressing the importance of maintaining open lines of communication.

“We share a collective responsibility to develop Zamfara. My door is always open to suggestions, recommendations, and constructive criticisms. Feel free to share,” he said.

Earlier, ACG Haruna Bala Zurmi expressed gratitude to Governor Lawal, attributing the officers’ promotions to the unwavering support provided by the current administration.

“It has never occurred in the Corps’ history for a state to have ten officers promoted in a single promotion exercise. It is our strong belief that this achievement is not unconnected with the unflinching support and assistance the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Zamfara State Command, receives under your administration and able stewardship,” Zurmi said.

He emphasised that the officers’ visit was to seek the Governor’s blessings and further strengthen ties between the NSCDC and the state government.
