The Managing Director of Petrocam Trading Nigeria Limited, Dr Patrick Ilo, has emphasised the role of green energy in tackling Nigeria’s pressing economic and environmental challenges.
He asserted the unveiling of a 100 KVA solar power supply plant at a branch filling station on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, highlighting the urgency for Nigeria to transition towards sustainable energy solutions to achieve long-term growth and stability.
He emphasised that embracing green energy is crucial for Nigeria’s sustainable development and economic growth. Ilo explained that adopting solar energy would not only safeguard lives by reducing carbon emissions but also provide a lasting solution to the persistent challenges of unreliable power supply.
He mentioned that the newly installed solar system can generate power for immediate use, with any surplus being supplied to the national grid in support of the Federal Government.
Ilo said: “Life is transient and evolving, but for now, green energy is the way to go”.
I honestly support President Bola Tinubu’s initiative of the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) programme. I may not support him on other policies, but for the CNG initiative, he got it right.
“Anything that reduces cost, excludes bureaucracies and makes life easier is the way to go. But people are concerned about the capital; believe me, banks are ready to fund solar projects. They are requesting people to come for solar funding, but many do not know.”
Ilo revealed that although the solar power plant requires a significant capital investment, it is highly reliable, and they are committed to doing whatever it takes to protect the environment. He emphasised that this is green energy, which is safer for residents, as it significantly reduces carbon emissions. He stressed the importance of living a better life by taking personal responsibility, contributing to environmental sustainability, and supporting efforts to mitigate climate change.
