Thirty-five-year-old bachelor, Mamza Abba, who is preparing for his wedding, has won N5 million in the ongoing Season 3 Dangote Cement Spell and Win ‘Bag of Goodies’ promotion for its customers.

While receiving the prize, yesterday, in Abuja, the construction supervisor disclosed that he bought about 200 bags of Dangote cement before spelling the word Dangote, thus clinching the star prize.

He said: “When I was told that I was a lucky winner of N5 million, I thought it was a joke. I did not believe that the Dangote ‘Spell and Win’ Promo was real in the first place. So, it came to me as a surprise and I could not speak for a moment.

“When I got the alphabet O, which had eluded me after collecting the other alphabets to complete the spelling of ‘D A N G O T E’, I was elated. Honestly, I am happy right now and wish to become a distributor of Dangote Cement as soon as possible.”

Presenting the prizes to Abba and five other winners, the Group Managing Director, Dangote Industries Limited, Mr. Olakunle Alake, noted that the promotion was to encourage and appreciate customers of the Dangote brand.

Regional Director, Sales, Dangote Cement, George Bankole, described the national consumer promotion as a way of giving back to the consumers and retailers of the brand.

According to him, the promo will help the economy, as more money is entering the hands of consumers and businessmen through the prizes.

“Customers and distributors of the product, as well as other Nigerians, can be millionaires many times over.

“The promo, initiated by the President/Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Dangote Industries, Aliko Dangote, is all about changing the lives of Nigerians, especially with the current economic challenges in the country,” he said.

Aside from the star prize, five others won N1 million each, while instant consolation prizes such as fridge and television sets were also won at the event.

The pan-Africa cement manufacturer had, weeks ago, unveiled a ‘Spell Dangote and become Millionaire’ in the third season of its Bag of Goodies National Consumer promo, in Lagos, during which the company announced that 500 consumers would win N1 million each, while 100 would win N5 million each within four months.

Representative of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), Mr. Dauda Waja, described the promotion as very transparent, adding that the commission was elated to see that consumers were satisfied.

The exercise was also conducted under the watch of the National Lottery Regulatory Commission (NLRC), represented by Mrs. Ikwo Odiongenyi of the Licensing and Operation unit.

The promo is expected to produce 125 millionaires monthly with N1 billion in total to be won in cash and gifts.
