The Congress for Rights Of Yoruba Nationalities (CROYN) has commended President Bola Tinubu’s well-demonstrated commitment to industrial peace in the country, underscoring the stabilising role his Chief of Staff, Mr. Femi Gbajabiamila, has continued to play, especially as a chief mediator between the government and labour unions.
The group, in a statement by its National President, Abiodun Fanoro, said that it was remarkable and worthy of emulation by future Nigerian leaders, especially the personal efforts, transparent and humble disposition of Tinubu to ensure that labour unions, even at the dying minutes suspended their planned strike.
The group particularly singled out Gbajabiamila for demonstrating that he is the true heart-beat of his boss, who must ensure that the administration is not obstructed or truncated, adding that he demonstrated that by going into late night meetings with the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NUC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC), leading to the cessation of the strike moves.
The statement further noted that the remarkable role Gbajabiamila played vindicated Tinubu’s choice of the former speaker of the House of Representatives as his Chief of Staff.
CROYN also lauded the genuineness with which the Labour Minister, Simon Lalong, approached and handled the labour leaders, including openly begging them, unlike the contempt and indifference often arrogantly displayed in the past at a cost to the well-being of the country as a whole.
