Group calls for caution over dismissed female soldier’s allegation against Army
A group, the #Prayer and Support for the Nigerian Armed Forces and other Security Agencies (PSNAFSA), has called on Nigerians to exercise restraint in passing judgment on recent allegations by a dismissed female soldier against the Nigerian Army.
The Convener of PSNAFSA, Mary Abayomi-Fatile, said the appeal was necessitated by the recent allegation by a former soldier, Private Ruth Ogunleye, who accused senior military officers of inappropriate conduct.
Reacting, Abayomi-Fatile urged the public to avoid hasty condemnation and allow for thorough investigations to be conducted. She said: “It is essential to remember that our security agencies are working tirelessly to protect us. We must show our appreciation and support for their efforts. Let’s join hands in promoting fairness and justice for all.
“We must avoid spreading unsubstantiated rumours and inflammatory statements that can cause harm to individuals and institutions.
“We have consistently demonstrated support for the Nigerian Armed Forces and other security agencies, and we encourage everyone to remember our brave security personnel in their prayers.
“We firmly believe that our security agents deserve to be celebrated and honoured for their selfless service and sacrifices, just like in other countries, and we should show our appreciation for all that they do.”
Abayomi-Fatile added: “We, therefore, urge Nigerians to be cautious and thorough in their investigations and avoid hasty condemnation. Let us promote fairness, justice, and appreciation for our security agencies.”
