A Non-governmental organisation, Face of Waziri-Nigeria (FOWN) has expressed concern that the country might not have an independent judiciary under the President Bola Tinubu administration.
In a statement, FOWN’s Director General, Mr. Bukky Adeniyi, said the apprehension is based on Tinubu’s antecedent, whose alleged mantra remains coercion and use of force to get anything he wants.
The group said: “We, at FOWN, given our resolve to always intimate Nigerians about important developments, will like to urge us all to be on guard because the third leg of democratic rule, the judiciary, is our last hope.
“It is already a given that the legislature will be a rubber stamp. He has had his way in installing his own men as party leaders. The last territory to be conquered will be the judiciary and it may endanger our democracy. This is a wakeup call on Nigerians not to let him turn our democracy into a dictatorship.”
