First national clean-up campaign to mark Nigeria’s 58th independence anniversary, tagged ‘Green Independence Clean-up (GIC)’.

The African Clean-up Initiative (ACI) has held its first national clean-up campaign to mark Nigeria’s 58th independence anniversary, tagged ‘Green Independence Clean-up (GIC)’.

Teams were saddled with the task of celebrating the day by doing sanitation, green rally, sensitization and advocacy or a recycling challenge. They could do one or more of the activities in their communities.

Team Agidingbi-Ikeja led by AbdulQuadri Rashidah, organised a sanitation task around Agidingbi.

She led a team of nine other volunteers, among them an eight years old boy who participated with excitement and worked with vigour in cleaning up the community.

The CEO of ACI, Alex Akhigbe, said the project was initiated as a test of Nigerians’ willingness to patriotism and volunteering about environmental issues and join hands to make their environment and country better.
