Group commends Buhari, Ameachi’s commitment to Niger Delta development

The All Progressives Congress (APC), new media team in Rivers, has commended President Muhammadu Buhari and Mr Chubuike Amaechi for their commitment to the Development of Niger Delta.

The Chairman of the Team, Mr Ken Minimah told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Port Harcourt on Monday that the inclusion of the Lagos-Calabar Rail (LCR) in the 2016 budget was laudable.

Minimah said that the LCR was one of Africa’s biggest infrastructure projects, captured and appropriated for in the budget that would herald massive capital spending.

He said that the project was capable of reviving the nation’s ailing economy that would benefit the citizenry.
According to Minimah, the economic benefit of the LCR to the people of Niger Delta will be massive and it will open up the area to trade and investment.

“It will employ thousands of youths in the region who daily roam the streets in search of non-existing jobs.

“As young people are meaningfully engaged, criminality and other anti-social tendencies that give the region bad name will abate,’’ he said.

Minimah said that the project would make the people of the region have a sense of belonging and also assuage their frustration occasioned by lack of infrastructural development in the region.

He commended the Minister of Transportation, Mr Chibuike Amaechi for standing in defense of the people’s interest and vision of Buhari to bring about development to the region.

“We salute the courage, stoicism and equanimity displayed by Amaechi, who endured and took in his stride all manner of savage attacks on his person,” he said.
