Group implores government to enforce law against noise pollution

Kemi Remi-Dairo Hearing Foundation (KRDHF) has implored government to enforce the law against noise pollution, because it could negatively affect hearing organs.
Founder, KRDHF, Kemi Remi-Dairo speaking at the fourth yearly stakeholders interactive session on noise pollution control in Lagos themed: ‘Noise mapping and new urban development plan – the Lagos experience’, said her foundation is passionate about making Lagos a noiseless city. She therefore called on government to be involved too.
“People need to protect themselves from noise. We want government to enforce the law so that individuals, groups, organisations and others will work to achieve a noiseless environment.
“We need to come together, including government to say no to noise so that everybody will be conscious of the danger of noise to our hearing organs. I’m a victim; my story is enough to tell you that noise making is deadly. It is not something to ignore.”
General Manager, Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA), Antonio Ayodele, said the session, a yearly event, is aimed at sensitising and creating awareness on emerging issues and impacts of noise pollution with a view to providing lasting solution to the menace.
