The Nigerian Petroleum Regulators Staff Christian Fellowship (NPR) has donated food items and drugs to inmates of the Kirikiri (female wing) and Agodi prisons, among other beneficiaries, as part of its outreach programmes.
Speaking at the ‘NPR Gives Thanks’ event held in Abuja, the National Coordinator of NPR, Steve Ayuba, said 2024 was a challenging year but expressed gratitude to God for the stability recorded in the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) and the Nigerian Upstream Regulatory Commission (NUPRC).
Ayuba highlighted that apart from the prisons, beneficiaries of the outreach included elderly peoples’ homes in Yaba, Plateau State Hospital in Jos, GSS Gwarimpa in Abuja, JSS Jabi in Abuja, and motherless baby homes in Ibadan and Owerri.
On the significance of the event, Ayuba emphasised the importance of involving God in the regulatory roles within the oil and gas sector. “Our industry manages the blessings God has given to Nigeria. Excellence and effective resource management come from God’s intervention,” he said.
He called for increased philanthropic interventions, adding, “Our communities are in dire need. The government is doing a lot, but we are led as a body of Christ to reach out and show the love of God.”
Sola Adebawo, General Manager of Government JV and External Relations at Heritage Energy, urged government officials to maintain integrity, honesty, and expertise, while underscoring the role of prayer in achieving national goals.
Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Ekperipe Ekpo, lauded oil workers for their dedication and contributions to the sector.
Represented by Abel Nsa, he commended their steadfastness during challenging times and expressed optimism about the sector’s trajectory, saying, “The years ahead will be greater.”
