There will be dire consequences for oil thieves in Nigeria, should any harm befall the Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of NNPCL, Mele Kyari, Buhari Solidarity League (BSL) has warned.

BSL hinted that local and international media had reported a possible attack on Kyari over his onslaught against oil theft.

Rising from an emergency meeting in Kaduna, the Northern chapter Chairman of BSL, Sirajo Musa, described the NNPC boss as one of the honest and illustrious sons of the North demonstrating management competence in a transparent manner.

In a communiqué signed by its chairman, the pro-Buhari group stated: “The NNPCL GCEO is, first of all, our son before being highly-respected CEO of the largest oil company in Africa and we are proud to say it.

“Kyari is, as much, a pride for Nigeria as he is to Northern Nigeria and we are confident he would leave behind a lasting legacy of standardisation of the NNPCL and building good relationships with the company’s partners wherever they are in the world. He is, to us as Northerners, the new face of competence in the contemporary history of this nation’s oil and gas sector.”

The group stressed that any attempt by any oil thief to inflict harm on him, as local and international media have reported on such a possibility few days ago, will be resisted by all Nigerians of good conscience and the good people of the North.
