Blooming Greens School, in partnership with Sterling Bank, has feted school children, widows, orphans and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) with cash gifts to celebrate Yuletide.
The beneficiaries included: Pacelli School for the Blind and Partially Sighted Chidren, Surulere, Lagos; Holy Family Home for the Elderly, Mushin, Lagos; Hope and Support For Slum Child Initiative, Makoko, Lagos; Concerned Parents and Educators Initiative, Lagos; five widows; and others.
Proprietor and Chief Executive Officer of Blooming Greens School, Susan Babatunde-Yamah, said while the bank donated N1 million, the sum of 1.5 million was obtained from the school’s charity art exhibition.
Babatunde-Yamah maintained that the economic situation in the country requires the privileged in society to support the underprivileged. She said: “In November, we had a charity art exhibition, which is a yearly event. It’s the creativity of our children. We sell these art works and the proceeds are given to charity during Christmas.
“The idea is to teach our children the importance of sharing with people, and support for the needy.”
Being our end-of-the-year party and Christmas concert, we brought the proceeds and gave it to the society.
“Well meaning Nigerians, especially during this season, should remember the next door neighbour, who is hungry.”
