A nursing mother identified as Habitat Kadijah Audu Ardo, 40 of Tsamiya village Boi Bogoro LGA has been kidnapped by gunmen, the Council boss, Iliya Habila said.

On Tuesday, a statement by the personnel of the Joint Task Force stationed in Boi said that Kadijah was kidnapped with her baby to an undisclosed location on Monday night.

The incident was said to have occurred at about 12:am. The villagers had reported the case to the personnel.

“We quickly mobilised our personnel and moved to the community. As I’m talking to you we are doing everything possible to secure the life of the woman and her baby,” the statement said.

Also, a resident of Tsamiya village who did not want to be mentioned said “we are now living in fear since this incident took place yesterday. The gunmen came at night and took away Khadija and her baby.”

The victim’s husband, Audu Ardo also narrated that he went to see his cattle in one of the villages nearby and decided to spend the night there.

“I was not at home when they came. I want to appeal to the kidnappers to please release my wife and her baby. They are innocent,” Audu said.

The village head of Boi, Bala Ibrahim Likita expressed shock, saying that for the first time kidnappers have gained access to his domain.

Meanwhile, the Council Boss, Iliya said that “I’ve been informed of the incident by the DPO. All efforts are being made to get the information about their whereabouts and secure the safe release of the victims.

“For now, no contact has been made by the kidnappers to the family, but all security agencies in the area have been put on alert and they are at their duty posts. The residents have been told to provide any information that will help security agencies in identifying where they are,” Illiya said.

“We’ve been lucky and it’s not by anybody’s magic that it hasn’t happened before, it’s been by God’s divine intervention and as human beings, we must be ready for the unknown. And that’s why we tell everybody to ensure that they report to security agents any suspicious movements or anything strange in their various communities.”
