Gunmen kill kidnapped hotelier, LAUTECH student after collecting N5m ransom in Ogbomoso

The Proprietor of Tana Suites, Ogbomoso, Olugbenga Owolabi and a student of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, Oyo State, Miss Rachael Opadele, who were abducted last week have been killed by their abductors.

Also, the motorcycle rider who conveyed the family member to the designated area for ransom payment was also killed while his passenger was injured.

The victims were kidnapped in Abaa community last week and the abductors demanded N100 million.

Students of LAUTECH, yesterday demanded justice over the killing of the final year student of the university.

The students under the platform of the Students Union Government (SUG),  lamented that their hearts were bleeding over the gruesome murder of Opadele.
The police said eight suspects had been arrested in connection with the kidnapping of Dr. Abdulrasheed Oladoye and Alao-Akala’s farm manager.

A family source hinted that after negotiation, the family arranged five million naira which was taken to the bandits, on Tuesday and confirmed by them after which the victims were shot. The person who conveyed the money to them was also shot but he was lucky to escape.

It was also gathered that the police have deposited the corpse at a morgue, while the person who sustained injury is receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.

A resident of the Abaa community told newsmen that residents are already protesting against the insecurity and blocked major roads, leading to the place.
