H.I.D. Awolowo Foundation hosts first annual lecture November 28

The H.I.D. Awolowo Foundation would on November 28, 2017 host the first annual lecture to edify the late Yeye Oodua.It will hold at the Nigeria Institute of International Affairs (NIIA), Victoria Island, Lagos, at 10:00a.m.

The H.I.D. Awolowo Foundation would on November 28, 2017 host the first annual lecture to edify the late Yeye Oodua.It will hold at the Nigeria Institute of International Affairs (NIIA), Victoria Island, Lagos, at 10:00a.m.

The foundation was launched on September 19, 2016, under the aegis of the Obafemi Awolowo Foundation.The public lecture is aimed at perpetuating the edifying legacy of the late H.I.D. Awolowo, who was the character that complimented and contributed significantly to the success of the life mission of her husband, the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo.

Under the topic: “Ethical politics, peace, development and security in Nigeria: The critical importance of women’s leadership,” the event will feature a keynote address.

This would be followed by an inter-generational panel of discussants to highlight strategies for enhancing women’s leadership in Nigeria.According to a statement by Dr. O. Awolowo Dosumu, the lecture is critical at a time when the country is faced with challenges on many fronts.

“With half of the population still at a disadvantage, it is important to reflect on the legacy of women like the late Yeye Oodua.“The event will serve as a call to action for the Nigerian women to take their rightful place and use their voices and talents to chart a new course for the country. It would also set us firmly on the path of peace, prosperity and development,” the statement said.
