HACEY, Access empower over 500 Lagos residents with free HIV/AIDS test

Over 500 members of Ilaje Community in Bariga, Lagos have undergone sensitization, test and counselling exercise on HIV/AIDs to commemorate the 2019 World Aids Day during a seminar organised by HACEY Health Initiative with support from Access Bank.

Adults and children were sensitized on the mode of contracting HIV/AIDS, preventive measures and the importance of regular screening.

The executive director HACEY Health Initiative Ms Rhoda Robinson said continued collaboration between government and private sectors organization is important in raising awareness and providing support for patients.

Ilaje Community Leader, Segun Zebulon said there are no hospitals and medical facilities close to the community, making residents less aware of the prevalence of HIV and their status.

Zebulon appealed to the organisers to sustain the seminar in the community to help the people be more informed about the infection.

One of the beneficiaries of the seminar, Mrs Salvador, requested for continued medical support for HIV/AIDs patients after the seminar.
