As the peace accord in Southern Kaduna appears to have broken down, the Hausa in Zango Kataf Local Council has alleged plot to totally annihilate them by the natives.

As the peace accord in Southern Kaduna appears to have broken down, the Hausa in Zango Kataf Local Council has alleged plot to totally annihilate them by the natives.

It, therefore, called on the state government to urgently investigate the indigenous Kataf community before they visit mayhem on innocent people.

A statement issued in Kaduna, yesterday, by the Hausa community under the auspices of Zango Urban Development Association (ZUDA), was in reaction to the recent press briefing addressed by the Atyap Development Association (ADA). At the briefing, ADA had accused the Hausa of providing shelter for Fulani allegedly attacking their communities.

ZUDA said the accusation by ADA was to call a dog bad name in order to hang it.

“It is the normal ploy of the Atyap to exonerate themselves from the ongoing ethnic cleansing in the area,” the statement singed by the President of ZUDA, Shehu Aminu, alleged.

It added that the Atyap militias, with the backing of their leaders, always cried out first of imminent attacks on them, to have ample opportunity to attack their perceived enemies, especially the Hausa people of Zango Urban.

The statement reads: “They made allegations they cannot defend in order to get undue sympathy such as in their allegations that Hausa people are hiding the Fulani in the community. Whereas the Fulani in Zango Urban are those living in Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camps, who were sacked from their villages by insurgents.

“Although, we, the Hausa in Zango Urban, condemn in its totality any killing of human beings, we call on the Kataf to search their conscience and find out why the hostilities between them and Fulani resurface after some relative peace. We are not holding any brief for the Fulani in Zango Kataf, but we are aware that many of the Fulani settlements are within Atyap Community living together for many years.”

According to Aminu, the allegations by ADA against the Hausa in Zango Urban is another attempt to carry out another genocide and total annihilation of the Hausa in Zango, similar to the notorious Zango Kataf massacre 30 years ago.

“We, therefore, dissociate the Hausa community in Zango Urban from the allegations by the Kataf and call on the government to investigate before they use us as cover-up to visit mayhem on innocent people,” he added.
