Herdsman allegedly kills 15-yr-old boy in Kogi


A herdsmen reportedly killed a 15-year-old boy yesterday in his father’s farm at Guchidan village, Kupa District of Lokoja council area of Kogi State.The Guardian gathered that the lad was ambushed on the way after taking inventory of his traps. The late boy was known to set “traps” for petty animals and rodents like rats, grass cutters on his father’s farm.

He was attacked in the company of his elder brother who narrowly escaped being killed by the herdsman whose father has been part of their community for years.The body of the deceased, it was learnt, was mutilated by the assailant, who reports say, submitted him to the district police, confessing to the killing.He reportedly told the force that he perpetrated the crime on the orders of his father.

It was further gathered that the case was transferred to Lokoja A division where the man reportedly maintained that he committed the crime.The mangled body of the deceased boy has since been buried in his hometown.Efforts to get confirmation from the state police spokesperson, William Ayah, were futile, as he refused to call back as promised at press time.
