Hoodlums kill housewife in Jigawa
Police in Jigawa State has confirmed the killing of a housewife, Ummi Garba, 26 of Warwadi quarters in Hadejia Local Council of Jigawa State.
Sources close to the scene told The Guardian that some hoodlums were parading the vicinity of the murder in an attempt to eliminate the husband of the deceased only to kill his wife in cold blood.
Spokesperson for the Command, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Lawan Shi’isu, who confirmed this while briefing newsmen in Dutse, stated the incident has instilled fear among residents of the ancient city.
He stressed that information at his disposal revealed that, unknown persons trespassed into the compound of one Ummi Garba ‘f’ age 26, of Warwadi Quarters Hadejia LGA, unnoticed and killed her.
Shi’su said the hoodlums used a sharp object suspected to be a sword, cut her throat and took to their heels.
He said: “On arrival to the scene by team of policemen, the victim was taken to the General Hospital Hadejia for treatment. She died while receiving treatment as confirmed by the medical director of the hospital.
“Efforts at arresting the suspects failed as they escaped. Efforts are on to get the fleeing culprits arrested and handed over to court for prosecution on completion of investigations.”
Meanwhile security has been beefed up in the area with a joint patrol team of the army a nd the police in Hadejia metropolitan to ensure the security of life and property following an increase in activities of miscreants in the ancient city.
