Hope, yesterday, rose for Abia residents, whose property are being threatened by flood and gully erosion during an inspection of sites in Isuikwuato Council by officials of the Ecological Fund Office. There are over 300 persons affected by flood and erosion in the state.

This was a follow-up to the control contract for Oghighe /Urualla Ohukabi  Aligbara/Ohukabi Ndijibi in Oguduasa, which was formally handed over to the contractor, Foldams Engineering Company Ltd.

Representative of the Ecological Fund Office, Mr. Clinton Igwe, said the contract was one of the 20 ecological intervention projects, approved by President Muhammadu Buhari for the first quarter of 2020.

He said the project was initiated through a request for an urgent intervention forwarded to the Ecological Fund Office by Nkeiruka Onyejeocha to check erosion and flood menace in Oguduasa communities, among which is Isukwuato/Umunneochi Constituency that she represents at the House of Representatives.

Onyejeocha commended the President for approving the site in 2019, after it was included in the Federal Budget in 2007, but lamented that it got stalled between 7th and 9th Assembly because it had no design.
