The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Gen. Christopher Musa, on Thursday, assured the political parties, supporters, and electorate of adequate security before, during, and after Saturday’s governorship poll in Ondo State.

The CDS, who pledged security agencies’ impartiality gave the assurance in Akure during a meeting with the head of security agencies in the state ahead of the election.

Musa, who said that he was in the state on the directives of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to ensure the synergy put in place by security agencies, charged security forces to be professional in discharging their duties.

According to him, what matters most is that Ondo State will be secured.

The CDS, who commended the security forces for their conduct in the last Edo State governorship election, charged them to reciprocate the job well done they did here in Ondo State.

He said: “As security agencies, we are working together as a team, and Ondo State has been a very peaceful place. We want to sustain that and ensure that this is the best election in Ondo State.

“I want to appeal to all Nigerians, especially good people of Ondo State; they should all come out en-masse to vote for whom they want.

“Nobody will intimidate you, electorate; security forces are working like a team. We are one family as Nigerians.

“Because our own job is to make sure that we provide an enabling environment, and we are going to do that.

“We are going to remain committed and impartial in all we do; we are not going to take sides because we want free, fair, and credible elections.”

He called on all heads of security agencies to monitor their men in the field so they are not derailed from their mandate.

Those present at the parley, including the heads of security agencies – NSCDC, Immigration Services, FRSC, and Police reiterated their commitment to secure the state and electorates during the election.
